Chelsea reportedly have ‘big plans’ for their youngster Levi Colwill in the future.

Colwill, 19, is a Chelsea-owned defender to come through the academy ranks at Cobham, but he’s impressing this season during a loan spell with Brighton.

According to The Telegraph, the Blues have singled out the teenage centre-back as an individual with a massive future with them.

It is understood that Chelsea head coach Graham Potter does have the English centre-half in his plans, too.

The report explains that Colwill could be set for a new contract at Stamford Bridge ahead of a promotion to Chelsea’s first-team squad next season.

There’s always a risk of overhyping young emerging players in the game, but it would be a surprise if Colwill doesn’t enjoy great success at the top level during his career.

The left-footed centre-back has forced his way into the Brighton line-up after a patient start to the season.

His rise this season has led to speculation in The Athletic that England manager Gareth Southgate is giving ‘serious consideration’ to giving Colwill a senior international call-up.
