Report: How Abramovich's camp are now feeling about the chances of Chelsea's takeover happening

Yes, it’s been a turbulent 24 hours with rumours circling about a potential collapse of the Chelsea takeover.

However, a fresh report this afternoon does shed a positive light on the situation.

The Telegraph claims Roman Abramovich’s camp are still ‘confident’ that the change of ownership will be successful, despite a lot of uncertainty flying around this week.

It is explained the £1.6billion stand-off between the UK government and Abramovich might not prevent the Chelsea takeover going through in time before the deadline. Basically, there’s worry from the government that the £1.6billion debt could fall back into Abramovich’s hands.

The report says the ongoing financial feud could be temporarily parked by respective parties to allow the club’s sale to happen.

This is really encouraging news for anxious supporters at Stamford Bridge. It means Todd Boehly’s consortium, who are reportedly trying to secure the ownership, can press ahead to try reach a conclusion to the takeover saga.

Busy summer

There’s a whole lot of work that needs doing at Chelsea when it comes to the squad this summer, so let’s hope the takeover process can be resolved without any further hiccups.

Blues manager Thomas Tuchel will be looking at his squad thinking it still needs some adjustments to compete with Manchester City and Liverpool.

Undoubtedly, the team needs to find a way to break down opposition defences easier. The mystery over the striker position is one that must keep the manager awake at night, too.

Elsewhere, a defensive rebuild must be on the cards.

It’s hard to talk about what life might be in the transfer window under sanctions are lifted on Chelsea and the takeover is done, but behind the scenes plans need to be brainstormed.
