Report: New Chelsea owners to hand Tuchel 'significant' transfer funds this summer

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel will have plenty of funds to work with in the summer transfer window after the confirmed club takeover, according to Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol.

The Blues have officially announced the official ownership transfer to the consortium led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.

It took quite a while, but this means now Chelsea do not have to operate under a special licence granted by the UK government during the sanctioning of previous club owner Roman Abramovich.

The special licence allowed the club to complete the season but, at the same time, also prevented Chelsea from making early transfer moves.

In his statement, new Chelsea co-owner Boehly confirmed the consortium’s plans to further invest in the club.

“Our vision as owners is clear: we want to make the fans proud,” the LA Dodgers owner said in the official statement.

“Along with our commitment to developing the youth squad and acquiring the best talent, our plan of action is to invest in the club for the long-term and build on Chelsea’s remarkable history of success.”

New owners to back Tuchel this summer

Sky Sports chief reporter Solhekol claims that the investment starts this summer, which will only help Tuchel in his squad rebuild.

“I think Thomas Tuchel will be given significant funds this summer,” Solhekol told Sky Sports (via Football Daily).

“The new owners have not bought Chelsea just to finish third, they want to win.

“They want to win the [Premier League] title, they want to win back the Champions League, and they know they need to close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City.

“In Tuchel, they have the perfect manager. He’s a world-class manager, why wouldn’t you back him?”

In an earlier report, The Telegraph mentioned that Tuchel is expected to be handed £200million to spend in the transfer window.

The club may also decide to reinvest funds from player sales to help secure high-profile transfer targets.
