Raheem Sterling is reportedly unlikely to make his Chelsea debut in this weekend’s upcoming fixture during pre-season.

Sterling, who actually confirmed today he’s leaving Manchester City this summer, appears to be on the verge of joining Chelsea.

Unfortunately, frustrated Blues supporters are still waiting for some official confirmation on Wednesday afternoon.

It’s been claimed the 27-year-old’s travelled to the United States to join up with his new teammates and train with Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

According to the Daily Mail, it’s “unlikely” Sterling will be available in time to play in Chelsea’s pre-season friendly this Sunday against Club America.

The report claims the England attacker has a better chance of playing either next Thursday against Charlotte or a couple of days later against Arsenal in two more games during the pre-season trip.

Man City’s exit-bound star will have some familiar faces inside his new dressing room with England teammates Mason Mount, Reece James, Ben Chilwell and Conor Gallagher.

Chelsea debut for Sterling

It’s no big surprise to hear Sterling may be given a week to settle into a new environment alongside Chelsea players.

There’s surely going to be a buzz around the dressing room about his arrival due to his impressive CV and his experience in winning trophies. He’s won four Premier Leagues, five League Cups and one FA Cup as a Man City player.

However, most supporters will hope his know-how means he can hit the ground running in the new season.

The incredibly high standard in the Premier League during recent years means there’s little room for error, so let’s hope any new signings can start well.

Sterling is coming into an attack that’s been guilty of inconsistency lately, but there’s no doubt he will have big talents around him.
