A UK government source believes the True Blues Consortium will claim some ownership of Chelsea once the buying process is finished.

Someone within Westminster told the Independent that they would not be shocked if the fan-led group took a slice of Roman Abramovich’s pie within the larger movement to take over the club.

Who are the True Blues and what do they want?

The True Blues Consortium, co-founded by John Terry, apparently want to buy a 10% stake in the European champions.

Sky also report that the party have held ‘positive’ talks with two of the shortlisted bidders selected by The Raine Group, the merchant bank dealing with the sale process.

Bids fronted by Todd Boehly, Sir Martin Broughton, the Ricketts family and Stephen Pagliuca are the remaining candidates for Abramovich’s kingdom.

Which of the four the True Blues Consortium have approached is yet to be announced, although the identity should be revealed when a new owner is confirmed.

To be seen joining forces with the voice of supporters would surely entice each of the interested suitors to bring Terry’s Blues onboard.

Something that a member of the UK government feels will end up happening.

“I would not be surprised if they end up part of the package,” they said on the True Blues Consortium’s possible involvement.

“The Government have one eye on the PR impact and this would go down well with fans’ groups – and not just Chelsea supporters.”

However, others do not share such a similarly optimistic view.

“Having a 10 per cent block does not mean a lot in reality,” said another unnamed individual.

“It does not provide much influence. But there’s a nuisance value. Because it’s fans, then you have got to be seen to take notice.

“And remember, this is not your normal takeover. There’s so much scrutiny on it. Everybody will need to be seen to be doing the right thing.”

#notoRicketts

At this stage of the race, keeping face remains just as important as all of the plans and promises the applicants have made to the Raine Group.

As they say, actions often speak louder than words.

Although, the words of Joe Ricketts could prove extremely costly as his children attempt to acquire Chelsea.

The #notoRicketts social media campaign has really gathered ground in direct opposition to racial comments made by Joe several years ago.

Further controversy was piled on the family after former Blue Paul Canoville revealed he had spoken in person with Tom Ricketts and Bruce Buck, causing discomfort amongst the other bidders.

Let’s just hope Terry and his army have chosen their interviewee wisely.
