Report: What Thomas Tuchel 'privately' thinks about Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher
Thomas Tuchel “privately” thinks Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher has a lot of similarities to Blues star N’Golo Kante, according to a report.
The Evening Standard claims Chelsea manager Tuchel already thinks the 22-year-old shares a lot of qualities with Kante, albeit with a bit more attacking ability. Also, the German boss has seen enough to make his mind up on him.
The report states the decision has been made for Gallagher to be integrated to the first-team squad at Stamford Bridge next season when he returns from his one-year loan at Crystal Palace.
Gallagher’s viewed as a box-to-box central midfielder with similarities to 30-year-old Kante, who equally covers every blade of grass when he steps on to the pitch.
The thought of them two in the same Chelsea XI during the next campaign is frightening. Certainly, the Blues would posses the kind of running power and stamina to run opponents ragged.
England display a big tick for Chelsea
For certain, Gallagher’s display a couple of days ago in an England shirt was a huge positive for Chelsea.
The on-loan Palace midfielder has looked incredible at Selhurst Park this season when given a real licence in Patrick Vieira’s side to fly forward. He’s scored eight goals and made five assists in 30 Palace appearances, excelling in a 4-3-3 formation.
However, he showed his flexibility when playing for England at the weekend.
The central midfielder played in a pairing next to Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson in a 3-4-2-1 system.
England boss Gareth Southgate was full of praise for Gallagher after his Three Lions performance, and it was another nod to Tuchel that he’s a youngster ready for the step into Chelsea’s squad.
