Chelsea teenager Omari Hutchinson is in line for a senior debut after making the bench for Tuesday’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth.

If any Chelsea academy player made the best of the opportunity of training with the first team under Graham Potter during the 2022 World Cup, it would be Hutchinson.

The versatile attacking midfielder, who joined Chelsea from Arsenal last summer, even earned praise from the manager for his performance in the friendly match against Aston Villa earlier this month.

“Dangerous” and “asking questions all the time” were the words Potter used to describe the 19-year-old’s display at the time.

While Hakim Ziyech’s absence has clearly helped Hutchinson earn a spot in the squad for the Bournemouth game, he still worked for it.

Hutchinson, who has an impressive five goals and four assists from just 11 appearances in PL2, also has a lot to offer as a substitute.

He can play through the middle as a number 10, his natural role, but is also capable of operating on the right flank as he did in the Villa friendly.

Another Chelsea academy player who could make his senior debut is Bashir Humphreys.

He is naturally a centre-back but can also fill in at fullback.

Reece James’s fitness concerns and Ben Chilwell’s absence are obviously the reason Potter decided to name him among the substitutes.
