Frank Lampard has claimed that current midfielder Enzo Fernandez has all the abilities to be the future of Chelsea.
He used his pre-match press conference to praise the 22-year-old for how good he has been despite joining the club in the difficult moment it finds itself in.
Fernandez was the club’s number one target throughout January, however it took until the final minutes for a deal to be agreed.

The World Cup was a fine example of just how good a player he is, as he came into the side that won the tournament straight after their opening match loss against Saudi Arabia.
He left Qatar with the young player of the tournament award, and was soon Chelsea’s record signing.
Lampard praises Fernandez
Despite the poor form of the side in general, Fernandez has proven a shining light that the future of the midfield position is in safe hands.
It seems as if Lampard agrees with this, now saying the 22-year-old has the keys to be the face of the club for the length of his contract.

He said: “He’s a fantastic talent. For a young player to achieve what he’s achieved in this footballing year is amazing. It’s a difficult moment to come to the club, but it’s a challenge that will make him better. He is the future of Chelsea.”
The task for the club this summer is bringing in a defensive midfielder to be the long-term partner for Fernandez.
The club are reportedly linked with Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, who could be braced for relegation this season based on how his side are currently languishing in the table.
