Chelsea suffered a 1-0 defeat on Sunday’s trip to Merseyside in the Premier League, which left manager Thomas Tuchel extremely worried by his team’s form.

The Blues still have plenty of work to do in the league’s top-four race after dropping more points at the weekend.

Richarlison, who capitalised on a defensive mistake from Cesar Azpilicueta at the start of the second half, scored the only goal of the contest in a much-needed win for Frank Lampard’s Everton.

Tuchel explains why his side’s recent form has been so worrying. He claims it’s concerning that their level of performances are not leading to the results they merit.

“At the moment, we don’t get the points when we play well and deserve more, and we lose when we play okay, this is a bad mixture,” Tuchel said.

It’s fair to highlight that at times in the campaign performances haven’t always translated to the right amount of points, but ultimately games are decided in each penalty box.

The Blues aren’t sharp enough in attack, while there’s been a surprise drop off at the back lately.

Chelsea slump

It’s obvious that there’s been a big drop off in the last couple of weeks.

Tuchel thinks it’s “too easy” right now for teams to score against Chelsea, something that individual errors are largely contributing to.

They’ve got an FA Cup final later this month to be excited about and it feels like everyone’s possible taken their focus off the Premier League games.

There’s undoubtedly still a job to do in the league, so let’s hope this result is a serious wake-up call to everyone.

It’s a home match at Stamford Bridge next weekend against Wolverhampton Wanders before a trip to Elland Road to face Leeds United.
