Thomas Tuchel has provided more injury updates on three key Chelsea players who will, unfortunately, have to miss Saturday’s home match against Leeds United.

The Chelsea manager has previously confirmed during the pre-match press conference that they will be without four players; Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante, Trevoh Chalobah, and Ben Chilwell this weekend.

Kovacic, who previously nursed a hamstring injury, remains out for now after testing positive for Covid-19.

Ben Chilwell, on the other hand, is out for the remainder of the year, at the very least, due to a partial ACL tear.

However, the other two are expected to return soon, although it remains unclear whether they will be ready to face Everton.

“Mateo is in daily contact with our doctors, and he had some symptoms but feels OK,” Tuchel told Chelsea TV.

“Trevoh and N’Golo will be, as it seems, back in training next Tuesday.

“I don’t know if the Everton game on Thursday will be too early, but let’s take it step by step, and hopefully they can be back on Tuesday.”

Jorginho and Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s being available after their absences in the draw with Zenit is a big relief for Chelsea amid their midfield injury crisis.

The former seems to have played through hip pain in recent weeks, but Tuchel does not really have many other options but to rely on the Italy international.

Having experimented by playing Reece James in midfield on Wednesday, Tuchel also confirmed that the right-back will be back playing in his natural role against Leeds.
