Julian Nagelsmann is desperate to become Chelsea’s next permanent manager, according to reports.

Julian Nagelsmann, 35, is one of the managers heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the past couple of weeks.

The German coach is out of work since his sacking at Bayern Munich last month. He did leave Bayern as a league title winner after lifting the Bundesliga crown last season, though.

Sky Sports Germany claimed this week that Nagelsmann is more likely than Luis Enrique to become Chelsea’s new manager next season.

There’s now more speculation that points towards the 35-year-old ending up in West London.

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, Nagelsmann “really, really wants” the Chelsea job.

Bailey claimed on the Talking Transfers podcast: “Nagelsmann is an interesting one, I think it’s because of the hierarchy in which Tottenham and Chelsea are viewed in Europe. If he goes to Spurs and fails would he ever get the Real Madrid job? If he goes to Chelsea and fails, well a lot of people have done that. If he doesn’t get the Chelsea job I’d be surprised if he went to Tottenham, I wouldn’t rule it out though and you can never say never in football, but as it stands he really, really wants the Chelsea job.”

Let’s wait and see if the Nagelsmann rumours continue to ramp up in the days ahead.

Despite the fact there’s still seven games left to play this season, Chelsea fans are writing off the campaign and looking ahead to next year. The final nail in the coffin was last night’s Champions League exit after losing 4-0 on aggregate to Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.

Frank Lampard is in place as the interim boss until the end of the season, but the next full-time manager has so much to do before the 2023/24 campaign starts.
