Watch: Chelsea fan Sam Curran channels inner Didier Drogba in brilliant cricket moment

Chelsea fan and England cricketer Sam Curran channeled his inner Didier Drogba last night in a brilliant moment on the cricket pitch.

England secured victory in their T20 series against Sri Lanka by beating them on Thursday night in Cardiff. Eoin Morgan’s side beat their touring opponents by five wickets on the DLS method and are now in an unassailable 2-0 lead with one match to play.

One moment from England all-rounder Curran though stole the headlines and had plenty on Twitter talking.

The 23-year-old produced an instinctive piece of fielding to run out a batsman with a direct kick of the ball onto the stumps.

With the Euro 2020 tournament in full flow right now, football fever is dominating across the country.

It’s a case where even some cricketers are getting involved.

Curran posted a hilarious message on Twitter after his run out wicket.

The England cricketers have been known throughout the years to love playing football in their warm-ups, although it was eventually banned due to injuries. It could get extremely competitive in small-sided games.

Curran is a well-known Chelsea fan that previously shared his love for the Blues.

He produced a brilliant shot at the stumps against Sri Lanka, and by the way he celebrated with his teammates it was reminiscent of some of his Chelsea idols.

“I tour quite a lot, including to India for the IPL, which is a great deal of fun, so I don’t come to Chelsea as much as I’d like which is annoying because I love coming to Chelsea,” Curran said last October, as quoted by the club’s official website.

“But I still follow them on the live stream when we are abroad and always I wake up a bit early when the time difference means you have to.”
