‘Would be devastating’: Some Chelsea fans want duo to start together v Liverpool

Chelsea travel to Anfield this Saturday to face Liverpool in the Premier League – and some Blues fans on Twitter are desperate to see the pairing of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner play together.

The two English rivals will both put their 100 per cent winning starts to the new season on the line this weekend.

Thomas Tuchel’s Blues have kickstarted the domestic campaign with victories over Crystal Palace and Arsenal. In addition, they won the UEFA Super Cup against Villarreal.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have beaten Norwich City and Burnley so far.

These are two of the teams that are expected to be in the mix for the title conversation this season, along with the likes of Manchester United and defending champions Manchester City.

With so much competition in the squad at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea boss Tuchel has a major job on his hands each game trying to field an XI.

A selection of Blues supporters on social media are desperate for an attacking duo of Lukaku and Werner to be unleashed together.

Kai Havertz and Mason Mount were the creative attackers that started behind Lukaku in last weekend’s win over Arsenal. However, some want to see the blistering pace of Werner come into the team against Liverpool.

Lukaku + Werner could be electric

For Chelsea fans, they’ll expect number nine Lukaku to start every week as the focal point in attack. It’s all about who plays in the No.10 positions behind him.

Werner received some stick for his debut season last year at Chelsea, but the truth is he was an amazing offensive threat that just wasn’t clinical enough.

He’s a speed machine that can leave any defender behind with his runs in the final third, so it’s intriguing to see if he can get on the same wavelength as Lukaku. There is a really exciting combination that could be forged.

Werner will definitely bring a new dynamic to the side if he comes into the XI and perhaps put some doubt into Liverpool’s defensive high line.
