'Wow': Carney Chukwuemeka has already spotted something 'crazy' at Chelsea after being shown round

New signing Carney Chukwuemeka was left wowed by the size and quality of the Chelsea gym when being shown round his new home at Cobham.

Chukwuemeka, 18, completed a permanent transfer earlier this week from Aston Villa to Chelsea.

The teenage midfielder’s move to Stamford Bridge went unnoticed in the transfer rumour mill, so it’s an unexpected deal that has gone down well with the fanbase.

He’s cost a sizeable fee of around £20million to prize away from Villa, but this is a player with first-team experience under his belt already and so much potential.

Chukwuemeka wowed by Chelsea gym

Chelsea have uploaded a video of Chukwuemeka’s first day at the club, which includes him seeing the facilities at the gym.

“Wow, it’s massive. It’s crazy,” he reacted when walking into the room.

The youngster added that he’s working on getting himself more physical by lifting weights in the gym.

“I like to keep on top of the gym. As you can tell, I need it a little bit as well. I’m not really filling out the shirt, so could do with a bit of the gym,” he said.

Aged 18, Chukwuemeka does look like to the naked eye he’s still got some filling out to do in the next few years. It’ll be interesting to see how the tall creative midfielder ends up further down the line.

First-team role?

For now, Chukwuemeka should feel confident that he can go straight into the Chelsea first team this season.

He’s been handed the No.30 jersey in the club’s shirt number release, which is a very positive sign that he will be in the mix and considered by manager Thomas Tuchel.

In addition, it’s been reported that Chelsea’s midfield trio Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Billy Gilmour will consider leaving this summer.
