Chelsea’s first-team assistant Zsolt Low has detailed a conversation that took place with Thomas Tuchel during half-time of this evening’s win against Al Hilal.

Chelsea booked their spot in FIFA’s Club World Cup final by beating Al Hilal 1-0 on Wednesday. It means the Blues will face Brazilian side Palmeiras in Saturday’s final.

For Chelsea, Romelu Lukaku turned out to be the match-winner with a simple close-range finish just past the half hour mark.

It was a game where the English side carved out plenty of opportunities, but had to defend pretty desperately at times in the second period to get over the line.

Tuchel, who’s remained at home after testing positive for Covid-19, spoke with the Chelsea staff and players during the interval of the semi-final against Al Hilal.

Apparently, his message to his players was to show more composure on the ball in the second half.

“First of all we talked to Thomas at half-time and had a good conversation. He had the same feeling that we were a little nervous and had a lot of easy ball losses. We talked about telling the guys to calm down, find the rhythm and not fight so hard for hard solutions. We had a good conversation,” Low explained.

Chelsea one game from history

This Blues squad are now only 90 minutes away from creating some more history at the club.

They’ve got the chance to win the Club World Cup for the first time in Chelsea’s history, which would be quite the achievement for this group of players.

It wasn’t pretty at times against Al Hilal, but there were more than enough moments of star quality that showed the talent on display.

For example, Lukaku showed instincts in the box to get the goal he desperately needed. Every fan will now hope that can spark a run of goalscoring form from the Belgian striker.

Elsewhere, Mateo Kovacic was a Rolls-Royce again in the midfield. Blues goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga pulled off a couple of top-class saves to keep a vital clean sheet, too.
