£30m Chelsea player is proving to be one of the worst signings of the Todd Boehly era

Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over Chelsea in 2022 and have made plenty of signings since then.

That includes the likes of Pedro Neto, Joao Felix and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who all joined Chelsea during the summer.

Robert Sanchez is another signing Chelsea have made under Todd Boehly, and the goalkeeper is a player who has come in for a lot of criticism since arriving in west London. Robert Green thinks Sanchez makes Chelsea fans nervous, for example.

Even so, the 26-year-old is at least making a contribution as the team’s No.1. The same cannot be said about Dewsbury-Hall, though that is not exactly his fault.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s minutes this season

Chelsea signed Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City during the summer, and the midfielder would have been hoping to have a bigger role than he has had under Maresca.

Dewsbury-Hall, of course, worked with Maresca at Leicester, but that has not stopped the Chelsea manager from overlooking the 26-year-old.

Dewsbury-Hall has struggled to rack up minutes in the Premier League this season, making just a few appearances.

Eleven games into the campaign, and the Englishman is actually yet to start a match in the top flight. Maresca played Dewsbury-Hall on the right in one match last month, which did not yield any results as Chelsea went on to lose 2-0.

Could Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall leave Chelsea?

Chelsea only signed Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester in a £30m deal in July. However, it already looks like he could leave the club.

The former Leicester player has been linked with a move to Aston Villa ahead of the January transfer window.

Dewsbury-Hall is definitely not a bad midfielder, and he showed that in the Championship last season as he helped Leicester to win promotion back to the Premier League.

In total, he scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists in 44 appearances. But right now, after spending £30m on him when they already had Conor Gallagher, Dewsbury-Hall is proving to be one of the worst signings Chelsea have made under their current owners.
