£50m Chelsea player now risks becoming another Alvaro Morata after Leicester game

Alvaro Morata did not have the best relationship with Chelsea fans during his time at Stamford Bridge.

The Atletico Madrid striker has even gone on record to say that he never felt loved by Chelsea supporters.

In an interview with Goal a few years ago, Alvaro Morata said: “I didn’t quite feel loved or appreciated by the club or the fans. I started very well at Chelsea, but an injury in the end leaves you a bit stuck.”

Fast forward to the present, and the player who looks to have a poor relationship with a lot of Blues fans right now is Raheem Sterling.

Sterling had a terrible game against Leicester City yesterday, which some Chelsea supporters did not tolerate, and if the winger has another one like that, he could easily find himself in a similar situation to Morata, if he is not already.

Raheem Sterling’s relationship with Chelsea fans

Simply put, right now, the dynamic between Chelsea supporters and Sterling is not good.

Following his disastrous performance in his side’s 4-2 victory over Leicester in the FA Cup quarter-finals, some at Stamford Bridge decided to boo him.

The 29-year-old missed a penalty, blasted another opportunity wide shortly afterwards and took perhaps the worst free-kick in FA Cup history — it was that bad.

He was taken off in the second half and some Chelsea supporters made it clear that they were not happy with what they saw from Sterling, who was seen being reassured by assistant manager Jesus Perez at half-time after his failure to score in the first 45 minutes.

Sterling has not been a disaster in every game this season. There have been times where he has looked really sharp, with the England international even managing to score a couple of goals against Manchester City.

However, all of that was forgotten yesterday. For whatever reason, the £50m wide man has just not been able to endear himself to everyone at Chelsea, just like Morata during his time in west London.
