Arsenal 2-2 Chelsea: Player Ratings

A late Hector Bellerin equaliser meant Chelsea went home from the Emirates with a share of the points. The Blues actually went behind after Jack Wilshere’s opener, before an Eden Hazard penalty and a goal from Marcos Alonso put Antonio Conte’s side in front. Chelsea were unable to hang on for all three points, however, as Bellerin struck in injury time to earn Arsenal a point. Here’s how the players rated last night:

Thibaut Courtois – 8

The Belgian made a number of fine stops to deny Arsenal. He saved well from Alexis Sanchez’s shot, which came off both posts. He also denied Alexandre Lacazette on a couple of occasions too.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 6

Did well defensive, but was caught out a few times by the passing and movement of the Arsenal front three.

Andreas Christensen – 6

Coped well in the middle of the back three, as he returned from a few games out. Didn’t seem to struggle against the striker.

Gary Cahill – 6

Looked threatening from set-pieces, and did well defensively at times. The Arsenal attack seemed to pressure him the most.

Victor Moses – 5 (substituted after 56 minutes)

Not the best performance from Moses, who struggled against the impressive Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Subbed off only ten minutes into the second half.

N’Golo Kante – 6

Typical performance from the Frenchman. Effective in midfield as ever, and came close in the second half.

Tiemoue Bakayoko – 5

Had a few chances to open the scoring in the first half, and seemed to leave space open for Mesut Ozil to attack.

Cesc Fabregas – 7 (substituted after 71 minutes)

Missed a good chance in the first half, but was good going forward. Provided a superb ball forward to Morata, who should’ve really scored.

Marcos Alonso – 7

Scored the goal that put Chelsea in front, and coped well with Bellerin for almost the entirety of the game before his compatriot equalised.

Eden Hazard – 7 (substituted after 82 minutes)

Chelsea’s main creative force again, and caused the Arsenal defence a number of problems. Scored Chelsea’s equaliser from the spot after going down under challenge from Bellerin.

Alvaro Morata – 5

On another night, he might’ve scored a hat-trick. The Spaniard had a number of clear-cut chances, but was unable to find a way past Petr Cech. Not his night.

Substitutes

Davide Zappacosta – 6

Provided a great cross for Alonso’s goal, and offered more offensively than Moses did.

Danny Drinkwater – 6

Came on for Fabregas, but didn’t really impact the game.

Willian – 6

Has less than ten minutes to make a difference, but didn’t have the time to do so.
