Chelsea 0-0 Arsenal: Player Ratings

Player Ratings Chelsea

Chelsea failed to take an advantage into their Carabao Cup semi-final second leg, following a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge to Arsenal. The Blues were held by Arsene Wenger’s side, with the newly introduced VAR system implemented for last night’s fixture. Here’s how the Chelsea players rated:

Thibaut Courtois – 7

Preferred to Willy Caballero in goal, the Belgian didn’t really have much to do. He saved well from Alex Iwobi in the first half but was untroubled for the remainder.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 8

The Spaniard really knows how to deliver a cross. He put in a number of them last night, and almost claimed an assist but Fabregas’ header was saved.

Andreas Christensen – 6

Could have scored a couple of headers, but was otherwise good. Kept Lacazette at bay in the heart of the defence.

Antonio Rudiger – 6

Picked ahead of Gary Cahill, and was comfortable on the ball, and made a number of surging runs forward.

Victor Moses – 7

Tested David Ospina with a shot, but was perhaps fortunate not to give away a penalty with his challenge on Ainsley Maitland-Miles.

Cesc Fabregas – 6

Really should have opened the scoring with his header, but the Spaniard put it straight at the goalkeeper.

N’Golo Kante – 8

The Frenchman completely bossed the midfield, and was his usual brilliant self. Exceptional from Kante.

Danny Drinkwater – 6

Didn’t have too much influence on the game, but found Moses well, before being taken off.

Marcos Alonso – 6

A quiet game for the wing-back. His free kick hit the wall, and his headed flick on was put wide.

Eden Hazard – 7

Was targeted by the Arsenal players, who kept fouling him. Despite only just recovering from injury, he looked good.

Alvaro Morata – 6

Stung Ospina’s palms with a shot, but was otherwise absent from the game.

Substitutes

Willian – 6

Made a few runs forward but didn’t impact the game like Conte would’ve liked

Tiemoue Bakayoko – 6

Only played a handful of minutes to shore up the midfield.

Michy Batshuayi – N/A

Not on long enough to warrant a rating.
