Chelsea have been given a serious wake-up call with regards to their centre-forward Olivier Giroud, as Premier League side West Ham are reportedly lining up a January move for him.
According to the Mirror, the Hammers are weighing up an attempt to try sign the 32-year-old in the New Year.
It is understood that the France international is a long-term target for West Ham and they made a “tentative approach” for him before he left Arsenal to make the switch to Stamford Bridge.

West Ham’s interest in Giroud should alert Chelsea to the fact that the striker has less than a year left on his contract and as it stands he is set to leave at the end of the season.
But the 6ft 4in colossus deserves a new extended contract with the Blues and the club should be preparing it ASAP.

He may not have got on the scoresheet in his opening eight games across all competitions this season, but has been a brilliant team player and chipped in with four assists to highlight his importance.
Giroud can still play an important first-team role in Maurizio Sarri’s side over the next couple of years and the World Cup winner has become a popular figure with supporters.

His connection with teammate Eden Hazard on the pitch is particularly special and there is a lot to Giroud’s overall game that is often overlooked.
