Chelsea have two easy decisions to make after Senegal’s loss to Belgium

Chelsea figures would have taken a keen interest in Senegal’s loss against Belgium at the World Cup.

The Blues had players on both sides, with Nicolas Jackson and Mamadou Sarr starting on the bench for Senegal.

Mike Penders was also a substitute for Belgium, who could not cope with Senegal’s attacking play before their eventual collapse.

Who should be Joao Pedro’s deputy next season, Folarin Balogun or someone else?

Chelsea should make bid for Iliman Ndiaye

Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye is one reason why Belgium struggled so much initially, especially in the first half.

The 26-year-old, Sadio Mane and Ismaila Sarr caused the Red Devils a lot of problems and could have easily sent their country into half-time with a 2-0 lead.

As per Sofascore, Ndiaye completed the two dribbles he attempted, made 14 carries and registered one key pass.

Last month, journalist Simon Phillips reported on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that Xabi Alonso’s side are interested in the winger.

At this stage, Chelsea should seriously consider making a bid for Ndiaye and not just because of his performances at this year’s World Cup.

Ndiaye is a wide man who can play on both flanks and has already shown in the Premier League that he is excellent at beating defenders in one-v-one situations. According to WhoScored, the Senegal star completed 2.3 dribbles per game last season, which was the highest average in Everton’s squad.

Chelsea have to loan out Mamadou Sarr again

In contrast to his Senegal teammate Ndiaye, Sarr has had anything but an exciting tournament.

The defender has not played a single minute at the World Cup, not even in the group stage. If Sarr cannot play a single minute for Senegal in the group stage, he probably is not ready to contribute at Chelsea.

For many, that was already quite obvious to see after his return to Chelsea in the second half of last season. In one game against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Sarr made a dreadful mistake that saw his side concede and was barely used after that.

The former Strasbourg man needs another loan. But as for Ndiaye, he looks capable of making an impact at Stamford Bridge now.
