Chelsea must raid Arsenal and sign ‘exceptional’ player before transfer deadline day

Chelsea are running out of time to secure new signings before the summer transfer window closes, however they can solve one of their biggest problems by raiding a major Premier League rival.

The Blues have already spent significant money to revolutionise their squad this summer, with the likes of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap already making a big impact.

There are more attackers being strongly linked with Stamford Bridge too. Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho are long-term targets, and Enzo Maresca has reportedly spoken to Fermin Lopez about a potential switch from Stamford Bridge.

It has been reported that Chelsea are not looking to sign a new centre-back this summer, despite the news that Levi Colwill is set to miss the majority of the campaign due to injury.

Chelsea must raid Arsenal and sign Jakub Kiwior this summer

This could well be a mistake, especially if another of their current options pick up an injury, and Premier League rivals Arsenal are looking to part ways with one of their centre-backs who could be the perfect signing for Chelsea.

Jakub Kiwior is currently expected to join Porto this summer, with the Gunners pushing to sign Piero Hincapie, who Chelsea have also been linked with.

The Bayer Leverkusen man looks to have his heart set on North London, but Kiwior would provide a fantastic short-term option for the Blues to have at their disposal.

The Poland international has struggled to establish himself as a regular at the back with Gabriel and William Saliba ahead of him, however being left-footed would also be a big boost for Chelsea to add to their squad.

Trevoh Chalobah has so far been used on the left of the centre-back duo, however having a more natural option would be a benefit after also losing Renato Veiga.

Kiwior proved himself to Mikel Arteta last season

Despite not being a regular starter, Kiwior was called upon in Gabriel’s absence last season for key games at the end of both the Premier League and Champions League.

He really proved himself in this period, and Mikel Arteta was keen to say just how big a fan of his performances he was.

He described the defender as ‘exceptional’ (Arsenal website), and Chelsea should be taking note of the ongoing situation surrounding his future.
