Chelsea dropped more points in their 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
Chelsea took an early lead after Cole Palmer scored in the 13th minute, but goals from Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo saw Bournemouth turn things around in the second half.
Semenyo came very close to securing all three points for the visitors, only for Reece James to level things up in the 95th minute with a fantastic free-kick.
Enzo Maresca will be relieved that his side were able to take something from the game, but one very worrying statistic has emerged from that match.

Not only are Maresca’s men dropping points in games, but they are also dropping them from winning positions, and that will be a huge concern.
Their failure to beat Bournemouth after taking the lead means the Blues have now dropped seven points from winning positions in their last four top-flight outings. It is amazing, because had they not, they would be second in the table right now, just behind Liverpool.

Defensively, there are issues there, though the transfer window could help Maresca to solve them. Manchester City will not be selling Ruben Dias, who has been linked to Chelsea, but another top Premier League centre-half could be available.
Enzo Maresca needs Marc Guehi
Chelsea are thought to be interested in re-signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace this month, and at the right price he could be attainable.
It has been claimed that Chelsea have told Guehi to push for a move back to the club, so his situation is one to keep an eye on before February’s deadline.
According to the Daily Mail, Palace valued Guehi at £70m last summer, though that figure could have dropped as the central defender approaches the final year of his contract.

For as talented as Chelsea’s squad is, it is lacking experience and leadership. Guehi would bring both things to Stamford Bridge.
While Guehi is still only 24 years of age, he has a wealth of Premier League experience now and is currently captaining Palace.
| Marc Guehi’s Premier League stats | Games | Goals | Assists | Yellow cards | Red cards |
| 2024/25 | 19 | 2 | 1 | 5 | 0 |
| 2023/24 | 25 | 0 | 1 | 2 | 0 |
| 2022/23 | 37 | 1 | 0 | 8 | 0 |
| 2021/22 | 36 | 2 | 1 | 4 | 0 |
| Total | 117 | 5 | 3 | 19 | 0 |
Having that in their side could really help Chelsea to stop throwing away points. While the Blues also need to be more clinical in attack, having a commander at the back who can organise things and bring a calmness to the pitch could go a long way for them. At Palace, Guehi has become just that.
