With Chelsea possessing a star-studded team, it is very easy for some players to get overlooked.

In Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo, Chelsea have two of the best footballers in the Premier League.

Unsurprisingly, teammate Marc Cucurella rates Caicedo very highly, while Palmer has admirers all over the globe after what he has managed to accomplish in the last couple of years.

The likes of Pedro Neto and Trevoh Chalobah may not be as good as the duo, but they have both made huge impacts in 2025 and perhaps deserve a little more praise.

Trevoh Chalobah has been Chelsea’s most underrated player this year

Right now, Chalobah is probably the most underappreciated footballer at Chelsea. In the absence of Levi Colwill, he has really stepped up and helped Enzo Maresca’s team to become a solid outfit.

Chelsea have one of the best defensive records in the Premier League this season, conceding 21 goals in 19 games.

They have also kept nine clean sheets, with Chalobah playing his part in that feat. He has missed just one top-flight game so far, and that was because of suspension.

The 26-year-old has chipped in with a few goals as well, including a brilliant header in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal in November.

It is not just this campaign where Chalobah has been performing, though. He has been solid since returning from his loan spell at Crystal Palace in the second half of last season.

Jamie Carragher thinks Chalobah has been “excellent” this term, saying as much last month.

Trevoh Chalobah currently Chelsea’s most reliable central defender

With Colwill out injured, Wesley Fofana unable to play every game and Tosin Adarabioyo not in the best form, there is no doubt that Chalobah is Chelsea’s most reliable centre-back at this moment in time.

Chelsea need to make room before they can sign another centre-back. Who are you getting rid of?

Maresca really needs him, especially while Colwill remains on the sidelines. Chalobah may not possess as much quality as the 22-year-old or Fofana, but his availability and current form have made the England international such an important asset to the team.

Hopefully Chalobah can replicate this form in 2026 and help Chelsea accomplish their goals for the season.
