Enzo Maresca may not be at Chelsea anymore, but Liam Rosenior is set to benefit from the work he put in with one player in particular.

Chelsea are in need of an instant reaction under Liam Rosenior, having gone five games without a win.

It’s all eyes on the Charlton Athletic clash after the disappointment at Fulham, which will see Marc Cucurella serve his one-game suspension.

The most intriguing thing will be the starting XI Rosenior goes with for the FA Cup clash, as it will give a good insight into the players he’s looking to integrate into his side moving forward.

We believe that Chelsea will field a team full of first-team players, despite Jesse Derry, Shim Mheuka and Reggie Walsh being included in training.

One player that Rosenior will have his eyes on in particular is Andrey Santos.

Liam Rosenior is set to benefit from Andrey Santos at Chelsea

Rosenior was the manager who unlocked Andrey Santos in Ligue 1 last season. He knows exactly how to use him, and Santos has publicly stated their relationship is “perfect.”

However, the new Chelsea boss has Enzo Maresca to thank for resisting loaning Santos out again this summer, which has paid dividends.

Santos is definitely not the finished product, but he’s been turned into a more disciplined Premier League operator, compared to the raw midfielder we saw before.

His quality was on show against Manchester City as Calum McFarlane described Santos’ display as ‘exceptional’ during his stint at the Chelsea helm.

Andrey Santos’ record under Liam Rosenior

Andrey Santos’ record under Liam Rosenior will be eye-opening to some Chelsea fans. As previously stated, the two shared a magnificent 2024/25 season at RC Strasbourg, where Santos was the star of the show, playing a huge role in their surprise 7th-place finish and European qualification.

He has appeared 34 times under Rosenior, scoring 11 goals in all competitions and four assists, as well as ranking 4th for tackles and interceptions in Ligue 1 during that time.

Chelsea may not have seen the goalscoring Santos yet at Stamford Bridge, but if there’s any man who can unlock the Brazilian’s full potential, then it is Rosenior.
