Chelsea are interested in signing Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa when the transfer window opens in the summer.
On Tuesday, it emerged that Chelsea have added Rogers to their shortlist of targets after an impressive season at Villa Park.
In 33 Premier League appearances, the attacking midfielder has scored eight goals and provided another eight assists, which is a good return for a 22-year-old.
You can see why Chelsea are interested in him, but they probably need one of his teammates even more.

Chelsea should prioritise Ollie Watkins over Morgan Rogers
If there is a chance to raid Villa this summer because of PSR, then the Blues should be prioritising Ollie Watkins over his teammate.
Enzo Maresca needs a new striker and Watkins has proven to be one of the best in the Premier League over the last couple of seasons.
This term, the Englishman has scored 15 goals in 34 top-flight outings, while in the previous campaign he recorded 19 in 37.
| Ollie Watkins’ Premier League stas | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 2024/25 | 34 | 15 | 7 |
| 2023/24 | 37 | 19 | 13 |
| 2022/23 | 37 | 15 | 6 |
| 2021/22 | 35 | 11 | 2 |
| 2020/21 | 37 | 14 | 5 |
| Total | 180 | 74 | 33 |
Turning 30 later this year, his age may be an issue for Chelsea, who have mostly signed players under 25 since being taken over by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap fits their profile more, with the Englishman still being 22. Delap is attracting interest from Chelsea and others going into the summer.
The England U21 international has not had a bad season, netting 12 times in 33 league outings. But Watkins has way more experience, which is what this youthful Chelsea squad needs.

Chelsea’s past interest in Ollie Watkins
Watkins’ age has not stopped Chelsea from at least looking at the former Brentford man.
Earlier in the season, it was claimed that Chelsea were monitoring Watkins, so he a is player who has certainly caught their attention.
That is no shock given his goal record and the fact that he has scored against the Blues in the past. “He is a terrific player,” ex-Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy said on BBC‘s Match of the Day 2 last year.
All things considered, then, in their search for a new centre-forward, Chelsea really should consider Watkins, especially if Villa do need to sell a player this summer.
With Nicolas Jackson being the only recognised centre-forward in Maresca’s squad with any real sort of experience, Watkins could be the perfect addition at Stamford Bridge.
