Forget Victor Osimhen, Chelsea should make £75m striker their number one transfer target

Reports have again linked Chelsea with a player they have reportedly been targeting for well over a year now.

The Blues are reportedly in conversations with Napoli over the signing of Victor Osimhen, potentially on an initial loan deal.

The Serie A side are probably going to prefer a permanent deal, and have reportedly lowered their asking price for Osimhen this summer.

However, it was previously reported that new manager Enzo Maresca was not so keen on the deal, with their doubts over how he would fit in the Italian’s setup.

There is another striker who could be available this summer who would be a far better signing the club could make in the final month of the transfer window.

Chelsea should go for Julian Alvarez instead of Victor Osimhen

It has been reported that Julian Alvarez is unsettled at Manchester City, and could be looking for a new club to play for next season in order to get more minutes.

A fee of £75m is reportedly what it is going to take to get him away from the Champions, however that could still work out cheaper than any signing of Osimhen on a permanent basis.

The Argentine international is close friends with Enzo Fernandez as seen by their social media while representing the national team, so would have an ally the second he walked through the doors.

Alvarez signing could recreate Cole Palmer brilliance

Alvarez would also bring plenty of Premier League experience to the ranks, with goals certainly not being an issue for him since he made the switch.

At the age of just 24, there are still so many years of his talents to come, and he would fit the mantra that has been laid out under Todd Boehly of signing players whose best days may well still be ahead of them.

Chelsea signed Cole Palmer from City last summer on deadline day, and completely saved their season by doing so. They could do the same again a year later with the addition of Alvarez.
