Enzo Maresca now has two weeks to digest the recent Chelsea results that have left them third in the Premier League going into another international break.

Going alongside topping the Conference League group, it has been a relatively positive period for the Blues in the face of some seriously tough league games.

Maresca has had to make a number of big calls when it came to his team selection, with a number of players knocking hard on the door for more minutes.

Mykhailo Mudryk will have thought he deserved a chance against Arsenal on Sunday after strong European displays, however this did not happen.

Enzo Fernandez good display gives Enzo Maresca headache

Another player who will have been hoping to return to the starting side was Enzo Fernandez, although again he had to settle for a place on the bench behind Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

Maresca was delighted with Fernandez’s impact off the bench. He picked up his fourth assist of the week as he teed up Pedro Neto for his first Premier League goal for the club.

With there now being a break where all three of Chelsea’s top midfielders are set to represent their nations, the manager has now been given a real headache as to where to go from here.

Chelsea create more when Fernandez starts over Lavia

It is fair to say that the Blues look more defensively secure, particularly in the big games, with the Belgian in there. However, creativity is certainly higher when the World Cup winner starts.

Chelsea are set to take on a number of sides who currently occupy the lower places in the league, and this could allow them to be a little braver with their team selection.

It will perhaps come down to how Fernandez does on international duty, with him set to play an important part for Argentina.

With Fernandez previously been described as ‘gifted’ by Andy Towsend, his career at the top at Stamford Bridge is certainly not over yet.
