As the full-time whistle was blown, the majority of Chelsea fans had already left Stamford Bridge. But it wasn’t just fans that left at full-time; Chelsea’s chances of signing Senny Mayulu also evaporated.
Liam Rosenior said his Chelsea side needed to be “pretty much perfect” to stage a Champions League miracle and overturn the first-leg deficit. They didn’t. A 3-0 loss on the night, and an 8-2 defeat overall.
It is the most goals Chelsea have ever conceded over two legs in European football. A damning result that paints a bad picture of Todd Boehly and his five-year plan, following Joe Cole’s long-winded rant.
Has he seen us lately? 🤣
A bad night, compounded by Trevoh Chalobah’s injury. But ahead of the summer window, the defeat will have also ended any hope that Chelsea may have had of raiding PSG for £61m-rated wonderkid Mayulu.
Chelsea linked with big-money move for PSG star Mayulu
The 19-year-old came off the bench at half-time with PSG leading 2-0 on the night, and 7-2 over the course of two legs. Mayulu was magnificent when he came on, his best moment coming on 61 minutes.

Loitering on the edge of the area, Mayulu leapt onto a loose ball and slammed a gorgeous left-footed drive into the top corner. Robert Sanchez played well last night, but he was left motionless by Mayulu.
In that one kick of a football, Mayulu struck the dagger deeper into Chelsea hearts, but it also ended any hope Chelsea might have of signing him. Why would Mayulu leave PSG for Chelsea right now?
Even if he leaves PSG, it surely won’t be to Chelsea now
Chelsea have been linked with Mayulu, along with other Premier League clubs. But having beaten the Blues so convincingly, with Mayulu having the last say, there is no way he would leave for Chelsea now.
Do you think Chelsea should sack Liam Rosenior? Or are you willing to give him more time?🤔
While many have called for Chelsea to sign some experienced players, signing Mayulu would have been a show-stopper. This is a player who can play in many roles, a player with astounding technical ability.
Creative, hard-working, versatile, and still only 19. There is every chance that Mayulu can become one of France’s best-ever midfielders and signing him would be a real coup for Chelsea. No chance, now.
While Mayulu is unlikely to be tempted by Chelsea, the Blues do need additions all over the park. Fingers crossed, Boehly listens to criticism from Chelsea fans, and brings in a few more-experienced players.
