Chelsea’s newest signing has a record in his career that will be music to the ears of the club’s supporters.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, 25, completed his transfer from Leicester City to Chelsea on Tuesday.
The English central midfielder has now left Leicester, the club he joined aged eight.
He’s followed in the footsteps this summer of new Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca, who he worked under last year at the King Power Stadium.
Dewsbury-Hall has played 59 games in the Premier League during his career, but he returns to the top division looking like a much improved player after ripping up the Championship last season.
He proved himself as a goalscoring midfielder last campaign, scoring 12 goals and making 15 assists across all competitions. Hopefully, he can replicate that in Chelsea colours.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has incredible injury record
Chelsea fans will have grown sick and tired of the seriously bad luck with injuries in the last couple of years, with key players regularly out on the sidelines for long spells.
It doesn’t look like that’ll be an issue with the club’s new signing if history is anything to go by, though.
Dewsbury-Hall has a near-perfect record when it comes to staying fit and available.
Transfermarkt claims that Dewsbury-Hall has missed just one game in his senior career with an injury. This was because of a calf injury in the 2021/22 season.
It shows incredible endurance from the Chelsea signing and it’s a skill in itself to be constantly available.
Let’s hope this trend continues and he becomes an important squad member at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues fanbase will be delighted to hear Dewsbury-Hall’s existing record.
Chelsea record with injuries
Former Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino certainly didn’t have it easy last year with the amount of injuries in his squad.
BBC Sport notes that Chelsea had 43 separate injuries in the 2023/24 season, which was the second most in the division.
Here below is the record of the Premier League clubs with the most injury problems last campaign.
| Team | Separate injuries |
| Manchester United | 45 |
| Chelsea | 43 |
| Newcastle United | 41 |
| Brighton | 41 |
| Aston Villa | 39 |
It would be great to see Chelsea captain and right-back Reece James, 24, take a leaf out of Dewsbury-Hall’s book when it comes to staying injury free.
Transfermarkt records that across the last five seasons James has missed a staggering 118 matches in total because of numerous injuries.
