Following an emphatic 4-0 victory away to Qarabag on Wednesday evening, Chelsea booked their spot in the next round of the Champions League. Willan scored a double, as well penalties from Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas helped Chelsea progress into the next round of Europe. 3. Cesc Fabregas
The Spaniard enjoyed another yet another game on Wednesday evening. The Spaniard showed that he has nerves of steel after being made to re-take his penalty. After scoring his first spot-kick, Fabregas stepped up again and put his second in the same corner and buried it again. In doing so, he became the fourth Spanish player to score 20+ goals in the Champions League. He joins fellow countrymen Raul, Fernando Morientes, and former Blue Fernando Torres.
2. Eden Hazard
Hazard scored his sixth goal in seven games, as Chelsea were completely dominant in Azerbaijan. He was influential in the first goal, as he played a superb through ball to Willian, who was brought down for a penalty. The resulting penalty was converted by the Belgian. He played a key role in the second goal, too. After good play from Willian and Pedro, Hazard set up the Brazilian with a cute backheel flick, and he coolly finished to make it 2-0. He was subbed just after the hour mark, with Saturday’s game against Liverpool in mind.
1. Willian
After struggling for regular minutes, Willian remided Antonio Conte exactly why he deserves playing time with a superb performance against Qarabag. Involved in all four goals, the Brazilian got Chelsea going after being fouled for the first penalty. He scored Chelsea’s second, after Hazard’s backheel put it on a plate for the Brazilian. He won Chelsea’s second penalty of the evening after having his shirt pulled, which Fabregas converted. He then scored Chelsea’s fourth and his second with an emphatic finish from the edge of the box. A wonderful performance from Willian.
