‘Talented’ Chelsea player is playing for his Stamford Bridge career in Conference League tonight

Chelsea should face no real problems tonight as they look to finalise their place in Europe for the upcoming campaign.

The Blues face Servette in the second leg of the Conference League qualifier, taking a 2-0 lead over to Switzerland.

Chelsea will be without a number of key players for the game, with Enzo Maresca confirming Reece James was not available.

Pedro Neto is having his minutes managed, while Joao Felix was also signed too late to be registered for the squad.

With some of their attackers not available for selection, there looks as if there will be an opportunity for Mykhailo Mudryk to kickstart his season at Chelsea.

Mykhailo Mudryk needs big Conference League performance

The Ukrainian started the 6-2 win against Wolves at the weekend, however Chelsea fans were not impressed by Mudryk.

Maresca seemed to feel the same way, with his comments on why he was removed at the interval not particularly complimentary of the winger.

Jamie O’Hara has even claimed Chelsea should sell Mudryk rather than Raheem Sterling this summer, and the feeling is that he is approaching last chance territory at Stamford Bridge.

With no Neto, the Ukrainian could well find himself back in the starting side at a time where he really needs to begin to prove his worth.

Enzo Maresca not afraid to be ruthless at Chelsea

Maresca has not been afraid to be ruthless with players no matter how much they cost or what wages they are earning. That has been on display with the Sterling and Ben Chilwell scenarios.

With the likes of Neto, Felix, Christopher Nkunku, Noni Madueke and Cole Palmer all jostling for positions behind the striker, they will all be feeling like they have something to prove at the moment.

Madueke took his chance with a superb performance against Wolves, and now Mudryk needs to bring something similar in the Conference League tonight, and prove he is the ‘talented’ player he has been described as in the past.
