Reports have claimed recently that Chelsea could be about to lose one of their marquee signings of the early days of the Todd Boehly era.

It has been claimed that Christopher Nkunku is frustrated at his minutes this season at Stamford Bridge, with the majority of his time on the pitch being in cup competitions.

Reports have linked the Frenchman to a number of top clubs when the transfer window opens again, and a move away seems likely at this stage.

Christopher Nkunku linked with move away from Chelsea

Barcelona have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Nkunku, however their never-ending financial woes will almost certainly play a part in their efforts to bring him in.

Reports have not gone away that Chelsea are keen to bring in a new striker to provide competition for Nicolas Jackson.

If they are going to have to do so in January, the Blues should look no further than signing Liam Delap from Ipswich.

It has already been claimed that Chelsea have begun laying the groundwork to make an offer for Delap, after his brilliant start to life as a Premier League player.

Delap currently has six goals to his name in a struggling Ipswich side, with his ability to win the ball back in the final third another area where he excels.

Chelsea have made it clear that they want quality players to be competing for positions all over the pitch, and this was shown by their ambition in the recent summer transfer window.

They added Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto to their ranks to compete with the already quality wingers they had at Stamford Bridge, and this has allowed them to setup their side based on the opponent they play.

Delap would certainly bring a more physical option into the side, with the Blues utilising crossing a lot more under Maresca than they ever did under Mauricio Pochettino.

The striker would also come as another player who has slipped through the fingers of Manchester City’s academy, with Romeo Lavia and Cole Palmer also starring at Stamford Bridge as a result of that.
