The two strikers Chelsea should sell as Xabi Alonso takes over as manager

Right now, Chelsea have five senior strikers on their books, which is far too many.

Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Marc Guiu, Nicolas Jackson and Emmanuel Emegha are all options available to Xabi Alonso. So what should the new Chelsea boss do with each one?

Here is what The Chelsea Chronicle would do if we were in charge!

Liam Delap: Sell

According to The Athletic, Chelsea will sell at least one striker this summer. After last season, Delap should be at the top of their list.

Delap has the physicality to play in the Premier League, but he really struggled with the technical aspects of the game during the 2025/26 campaign. The 23-year-old scored just one goal in the top flight and could really do with a fresh start elsewhere.

Marc Guiu: Sell

It is unlikely that Guiu will ever be Chelsea’s first-choice centre-forward. He is capable of finishing and presses really well, but his overall game looks quite limited.

The Blues signed Guiu for just £5m so should be able to make a good bit of profit from a sale.

Nicolas Jackson: Keep

This is a controversial one, but it could be worth keeping hold of Jackson this summer. He is now an experienced No.9 who has played in the Premier League, while his hold-up play is excellent.

Chelsea did not always have that last term, someone who could protect the ball, win fouls and bring others into the game.

Emmanuel Emegha: Loan

Emegha had some injury problems last season and still looks a bit raw at times, which is understandable given his age.

Emegha could get a chance under Alonso, but a Premier League loan would probably be best for him.

Joao Pedro: Keep

This one is obvious. Pedro was one of the best strikers in England last term, scoring 15 goals in 35 appearances.

Chelsea have not had a centre-forward like him since Diego Costa and he was unfortunate to miss out on Brazil’s World Cup squad. He is staying.
