Top Chelsea player was the real winner from 3-0 Conference League win vs Legia Warsaw, he didn’t play a single minute

Chelsea gave supporters a stark reminder of what they can do when at their best with a dominant win in the Conference League quarter-final first leg against Legia Warsaw.

The visitors will be taking a 3-0 lead back to Stamford Bridge after a brilliant second half performance saw them blow away their Polish competition.

There was no doubt pressure on Enzo Maresca to get his team selection right, given the crucial games that remain in the race for Champions League football.

The manager went for a blend of youth and first team stars, and was rewarded in his bravery. Josh Acheampong wowed Maresca, while Tyrique George scored his first goal for the senior Chelsea side to open the scoring.

Rotation also allowed Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to prove his worth, with the central midfielder showing he has plenty to offer the Blues in the run in from now until the middle of May at least.

Moises Caicedo the biggest winner from Chelsea’s win over Legia Warsaw

Playing in midfield is always going to be a tough task for any Chelsea player when they are featuring in a side that does not include Moises Caicedo. His importance to the side has been proven by the fact he has hardly missed a minute this season in the Premier League.

Thursday night saw the Ecuador international start on the bench though, alongside Enzo Fernandez, and the nature of the game allowed Maresca the luxury of not having to bring him on.

Perhaps the biggest win of the night as far as Chelsea are concerned, their best performer this season has been handed a complete rest before facing Ipswich Town at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

How did Moises Caicedo get on last time against Ipswich?

The trip to Portman Road is seen as one of the worst outings Chelsea have had this season. They are still the only team Ipswich have beaten at home this season.

Caicedo was booked during the game, but still put in a strong performance as ever in the middle of the park.

Despite being strongly threatened by relegation, Chelsea will need their best players available to pick up what would be a huge three points, and Caicedo is top of that list right now.
