Some Chelsea fans will not like the idea of Andrey Santos potentially moving to rivals Manchester United this summer.

However, it is a possibility Chelsea supporters are currently facing, with United interested in signing Santos ahead of the new season.

Who could benefit from Santos joining United? Who could suffer? The Chelsea Chronicle has taken a look.

Dario Essugo (winner)

Dario Essugo could be one winner from Santos’ potential transfer to United. The 21-year-old barely played last season because of injury, but even when he was fit, it was still a struggle for him to get into the team.

His pathway was blocked by the likes of Santos and Moises Caicedo, meaning that he could get more opportunities next term if the former moves to Old Trafford.

Paul Winstanley (winner)

Chelsea signed Santos from Brazilian outfit Vasco da Gama for £18m in 2023. As the Blues now contemplate a sale, it is being reported that they want £50m for their midfielder.

If Chelsea can rake in that much for Santos, that would reflect quite well on sporting director Paul Winstanley, who oversaw the 22-year-old’s arrival at the club. He brought in an unknown Brazilian prospect who is now valued at £50m and could make his current employers some serious profit.

Estevao Willian (loser)

In terms of losers, Estevao Willian would not be a beneficiary of Santos joining United.

Earlier this year, Estevao spoke about Santos and the role he has played in his development at Chelsea. They are good friends off the pitch, and not having him around could impact the Brazilian youngster.

Xabi Alonso (loser)

Xabi Alonso is likely to be the biggest loser from Santos’ possible switch to Michael Carrick’s side.

Santos was a very reliable option for Chelsea last season, in contrast to Romeo Lavia, who struggled to stay fit.

Santos is a tidy midfielder. He retains possession well and is also capable of winning the ball back. Any new manager would love to have a footballer like that available to them, but Alonso must now prepare for the possibility of losing Santos.
