The Blues moved up to third place in the Premier League on Saturday, following an emphatic 4-0 away win to West Bromwich Albion. After the international break, Chelsea followed up their 1-0 win to Manchester United with a resounding victory at the Hawthorns. Here is the Man of the Match shortlist for Saturday’s win.
3. Cesc Fabregas
The Spaniard picked up where he left off this weekend. After an impressive display against Manchester United, Fabregas produced an even better performance. Provided the assist for Marcos Alonso’s goal with a free-kick, as he found the wing-back completely unmarked to finish past Ben Foster. His second assist was even better. Given space and time to find a killer pass, the Spaniard found Hazard who coolly finished past the West Brom goalkeeper.
2. Alvaro Morata
Morata grabbed his eighth Premier League goal of the season, and provided an exquisite assist for Hazard’s first. The Spaniard opened the scoring on Saturday, after Hazard’s shot was parried by Foster. He did well to roll the ball into the empty net to give Chelsea the lead. His backheel flick sent Hazard through on goal to round the West Brom keeper to double the Blues’ lead.
1. Eden Hazard
Completely unplayable. Looked slightly quiet in the opening exchanges, but burst into life after a late challenge from Gareth Barry. A quick turn and shot was saved by Foster, but led to the first goal with Morata’s follow-up. The Belgian grabbed his first of the game after being put through by Morata. Easily rounding the keeper, Hazard easily dispatched it to make it two. In the second half, he grabbed Chelsea’s fourth. Fabregas found him with a ball forward, and he controlled well and easily finished beyond Foster and the West Brom defence. The man is back on form, and he claims this week’s Man of the Match.
