'Absolutely colossal': Some Chelsea fans amazed by their 28-year-old display vs Palmeiras

Chelsea created more history by winning the Club World Cup final on Saturday – and some Blues fans on Twitter believe their defender Antonio Rudiger put in a brilliant performance.

Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea beat Brazilian opposition Palmeiras 2-1 after extra-time in the weekend’s final.

It was Blues attacker Kai Havertz that turned up in the pivotal moment in a cup final. The attacker emulated his Champions League heroics by scoring the winner against Palmeiras with a penalty in the 117th minute.

Tuchel’s side now turn their attention to domestic and European games, but the club’s trophy cabinet is now complete after being crowned Club World Cup champions.

Rudiger dominant yet again for Chelsea

A selection of Blues supporters on social media claim that Rudiger was magnificent with his weekend display, as he completed the entire 120 minutes in a tough encounter.

The 28-year-old centre-half was his usual self with some aggressive defending. Also, he provided his customary shot from distance at goal.

He’s been performing at a world-class level for well over a year now, so it should come as no surprise to see him turn up in a final again.

The obvious topic of discussions regarding him is his contract situation, though.

Rudiger’s deal is out of contract at the summer, meaning Chelsea are facing the possibility of losing the colossus defender. It’s a no-brainer to pay him what he wants to stay.

Fabrizio Romano recently reported Bayern Munich won’t be signing Rudiger due to his wage demands, while his chances of remaining at Stamford Bridge are rated 50-50.

Here are some Blues fans discussing him:
