'Best player yet again': Some Chelsea fans credit their man's display after 1-1 Brighton draw

Chelsea dropped more points in the Premier League after a 1-1 draw away to Brighton on Tuesday night – but some Blues fans on Twitter did at least give credit to their defender Thiago Silva for his performance.

The Blues now have just one win in seven league games after drawing at the Amex Stadium.

Hakim Ziyech put the visitors ahead in the first half with his strike from outside the box. However, Adam Webster’s powerful header in the second half equalised from a corner kick.

Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea are going through a real slump that’s seen them disappear from any talk of a title race. Instead, they are now nervously looking below them at the prospect of a top four race.

Chelsea fans applaud Silva

A selection of Blues supporters on social media believe Silva was a shining light on a very disappointing evening.

Aged 37, veteran defender Silva was a standout for a visiting team that were miles from their best.

The Brazilian centre-back was called into action several times during the 90 minutes, but stepped up with blocks, tackles and real authority in the defence.

His recent decision to sign a one-year contract extension at Stamford Bridge was a massive boost to everyone, and this week’s performance shows he’s still one of the very best defenders around even at his age.

Unfortunately, most teammates around him weren’t operating at the same level tonight.

It was quite telling that Blues centre-halves Silva and Antonio Rudiger were given a full examination by a talented Brighton outfit that were on top.

Here are some Chelsea fans at least praising Silva:
