Blues fans urge Chelsea to save 20-year-old from 'ridiculous' loan situation in January

Some Blues fans on social media were left frustrated as Chelsea loanee Billy Gilmour was once again left out on Norwich City’s bench in the 2-1 defeat to Leeds United.

The 20-year-old has now been left out for five consecutive games for the Canaries after being an unused sub in their home defeat to Leeds United on Sunday.

Gilmour last featured for the loan club in their 3-0 defeat to Liverpool back in September.

He has played twice for Scotland since but has not had a look-in at club level.

Earlier this month, Norwich boss Daniel Farke insisted that they were under no pressure to play any of the on-loan players, including Gilmour, regularly.

“This is also the challenge our loan players want to have – it is not like they want to play just because we have loaned them, and they [parent clubs] want them to play many games,” he explained (via the Independent).

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel seemed to agree with Farke, having previously said Gilmour took a “huge risk” by going out on loan and must earn his place there (via Metro).

The thing is that Gilmour has not really had many opportunities to make a statement, given he has not even played any minute as a sub in these last five games.

Some Chelsea fans on Twitter are clearly not happy with Gilmour’s situation at Norwich.
