Chelsea fans claim 25-year-old's poor display 'cost' them in Manchester United draw

Some Chelsea fans were clearly not impressed by Timo Werner’s performance in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday.

The Blues had the majority of the ball as expected but failed to convert their domination into three points.

Thomas Tuchel’s decision to deploy Callum Hudson-Odoi and Hakim Ziyech is hardly a surprise given their performance against Juventus.

However, the German opted for Werner instead of Romelu Lukaku for the number nine role.

To be fair, Werner’s pace and movements caused problems for the visitors. But as is often the case, his finishing let him down.

It is safe to say that Werner’s performance has angered quite some Chelsea fans on Twitter.

It could have been worse for the hosts after Jorginho made an error which led to Jadon Sancho’s opener.

Fortunately, the Italy international eventually made amends with a composed penalty goal 20 minutes later.

The draw means Chelsea are now only one point ahead of second-placed Manchester City and two points ahead of Liverpool in the Premier League table.
