Chelsea supporters on social media have urged Thomas Tuchel to partner Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku up front against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Cries for the partnership to be formed arose after the duo were both on target again for their respective countries at the weekend.

Lukaku celebrated his 100th cap for Belgium in traditional deadly fashion, scoring after just eight minutes in the Red Devils’ 3-0 win over the Czech Republic.

Werner netted the third in Germany’s 6-0 demolition of Armenia, as well as setting up Marco Reus with a delicate back-heel just after the half-hour mark.

That’s now five goals in total for the two Chelsea forwards in the latest round of international fixtures.

That sets them up nicely for the return of Premier League action, which begins for Chelsea at home to Villa.

And some Blues fans demanded Lukaku and Werner start together for the first time following their excursions on the national stage.

Here’s how they reacted on Twitter:

Werner and Lukaku link up

It probably won’t be long before the wishes of the Chelsea faithful are answered.

Tuchel has yet to trial Werner and Lukaku in attack properly since the latter returned to the club last month.

The German came on in the final minute at Arsenal and was an unused substitute in the draw at Liverpool.

With so many options in forward areas, Chelsea can afford to keep players like Werner on the bench without losing any of their potency.

Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Hakim Ziyech and Christain Pulisic all provide different types of firepower, not to mention a constant supply for Lukaku.

But what Werner offers above all his teammates is raw speed, which caused headaches to numerous back-lines last season.

Having him running in behind and setting up Lukaku is a dream blend, unless you’re an opposition defender that is.
