Norwich City are reportedly about to appoint Frank Lampard as their manager – and some Chelsea fans on Twitter are excited about what that means for Billy Gilmour.

According to talkSPORT, Premier League club Norwich are set to name England legend Lampard as the replacement for Daniel Farke at Carrow Road.

Lampard, 43, has been out of working since he was dismissed by Chelsea in January. However, it looks like he’s now diving back into management with a Norwich team at the bottom of the league table five points adrift of safety.

What does this mean for Chelsea youngster Gilmour?

Gilmour, who joined Norwich on a season-long loan in the summer, has surprisingly fallen out of favour in the past couple of months.

The 20-year-old Scotland international is a supremely talented midfielder, so every Chelsea fan has been hoping a change of manager could bring a change in fortunes for him.

If Lampard signs on the dotted line, Gilmour can be over the moon.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media are already expecting their ex-manager to use Gilmour regularly.

He’s worked with the midfielder before at Stamford Bridge and will be a familiar face to him. Also, Lampard hailed the youngster’s personality back in January before his sacking.

Here are some Chelsea fans discussing how Lampard’s reported arrival is good news for loan player Gilmour:

Great to see Lampard back

For most Chelsea fans, it was sad to see Lampard go. In fairness, what Thomas Tuchel’s achieved since replacing him at the Bridge has more than justified the board’s decision.

It’s great that Lampard is now getting another crack in the top flight.

He’s taking on a mammoth job to try keep Norwich in the Premier League, but he will try bring an offensive style to them.

Also, people often forget he took a Chelsea side dealing with a transfer embargo to fourth in the Premier League during his first year with the Blues.
