'Pure class': Chelsea fans wowed by Thiago Silva moment in Burnley win

Thiago Silva put in another eye-catching performance on the weekend – and some Chelsea fans on Twitter all loved the moment he produced a goal-line clearance in the first half.

Chelsea picked up another three points in the Premier League on Saturday by winning 4-0 away to Burnley.

Thomas Tuchel’s Blues side were rampant in the second half with four unanswered goals, but the hosts had chances to go ahead during the first half.

Silva, 37, showed how much he brings to the side at Stamford Bridge with a memorable intervention.

The Brazilian centre-back intelligently got himself into position to make a goal-line block from Burnley’s striker Wout Weghorst.

He’s got previous for this kind of defensive heroics, too.

The South American defender has made several goal-line clearances over the course of this season, including a phenomenal one recently in the Carabao Cup final defeat to Liverpool.

Here are a selection of Blues fans on social media waxing lyrical about Silva’s clearance against Burnley:

Today’s back three great balance for Chelsea

There was a lovely shape and balance to the three centre-backs that started next to each other against Burnley.

Silva was the commanding presence at the heart of the back three, with Trevoh Chalobah and Antonio Rudiger operating either side of him.

All three are extremely comfortable with the ball at their foot, as well as loving the art of defending.

It all gels together nicely when the aggressiveness and physicality of Chalobah and Rudiger operates either side of calming influence Silva.
