Some Chelsea fans react to Trevoh Chalobah display v Southampton

‘Really special’: Some Chelsea fans amazed by 22-year-old’s display in win v Southampton

Chelsea beat Southampton in a dramatic penalty shootout on Tuesday night – and some Blues fans on Twitter singled out Trevoh Chalobah for his individual display.

Thomas Tuchel’s side edged out Southampton 4-3 on penalties to advance to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. Reece James repeated his heroics from the previous round by scoring the decisive spot-kick yet again.

First of all, the two teams were locked together at 1-1 after an action-packed game at Stamford Bridge. Kai Havertz’s header on the stroke of half time put the Blues ahead. However, Che Adams tapped in quickly after the restart.

Chelsea ended up with 23 shots, 14 on target. Meanwhile, visitors Southampton had 15 shots, seven on target.

Chelsea fans amazed by Trevoh Chalobah

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media believe Chalobah was a standout figure for them tonight.

The 22-year-old defender dropped into the heart of the back-three as the middle centre-back, completing a fairly inexperienced and young backline.

However, the Blues academy graduate once again barely put a foot wrong.

He’s made a huge impact this season since being integrated to the first-team squad by manager Tuchel, who clearly has big faith in him. He definitely looks a player mature beyond his years.

Here are some Chelsea fans hailing Chalobah:
