Chelsea announced their Premier League squad on Thursday – and some eagle-eyed Blues fans on Twitter have noticed that Charly Musonda is one notable omission.

The Blues confirmed on their official website the Premier League squad that has been submitted for the 2021/22 campaign.

Musonda, who’s not a part of club’s Champions League squad, is also missing from the Premier League equivalent.

The attacking midfielder has had to overcome a career-threatening knee problem that sidelined him for 18 months, but has been pictured in training with the group during the recent summer months.

He’s not played a competitive senior match since August 2019 during his loan with Vitesse Arnhem where he suffered his knee problem, and it’s unclear on when he’ll be back to action.

It looks like the 24-year-old Belgian may need to drop down to the Development squad if he’s to get any game minutes in his legs.

The playmaker has made seven first-team appearances for Chelsea, however, it looks a long way back for him at Stamford Bridge.

It’s clear though that the ex-rising star still has a wave of supporters in the Chelsea fanbase.

The fact he was unable to secure a loan deal during the summer window is somewhat disheartening because he deserves some better luck.

Hopefully, he can work towards fitness before readdressing his situation in January.

Here are some Chelsea fans that have spotted and discussed Musonda’s omission:
