Some Blues fans impressed by Broja's strong display against Manchester City
Armando Broja has caught the attention of some Chelsea fans on social media with his performance in the 1-1 draw between Southampton and Manchester City on Saturday.
The Saints exceeded a lot of expectations after ending the league leaders’ 12-game winning run.
Broja, who has already had five goals in the Premier League this season, was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet after coming close to scoring a couple of times in the game.
It was never an easy task for the Albania international, as Southampton only had 26 percent of possession of the ball, yet he still managed to cause problems up front.
It is hardly a surprise that Southampton are keen on signing the striker permanently, as Ralph Hasenhuttl himself recently admitted.
However, some Chelsea fans on social media have made it clear that the idea of selling Broja should be out the question.
Fortunately for Chelsea, the academy graduate signed a new five-year contract before his loan departure, which ties him to the club until summer 2026.
This means Chelsea are in a strong negotiating position in terms of any potential transfer offers, at least for the next few years.
Ideally, he returns to Chelsea for a pre-season in the summer and gets to be part of Thomas Tuchel’s squad next season.
Given how highly Tuchel thinks of him, this might actually be the plan.
“Armando’s getting better and better, he’s a very unique player with unique strengths in his game, he has speed, he’s robust and he’s a goalscorer,” Tuchel told the media about Broja last week (via Goal).
