Chelsea recorded a narrow 1-0 win away to Brentford on Saturday evening – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter were left hugely impressed by the performance of their goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

The Blues returned to the top of the Premier League by securing a victory against London rivals Brentford.

Ben Chilwell, who’s in great goalscoring form right now, netted the winner on the stroke of half time. The left wing-back unleashed a thunderous half-volley into the net which turned out to be the only goal of the contest.

However, Thomas Tuchel’s side survived numerous defensive scares in the second period to hold on against hosts Brentford. It was a back to the wall job for the final 15 minutes.

Edouard Mendy a brick wall against Brentford

For Chelsea, they wouldn’t have won today’s game without their colossus in net.

It was a make-shift back-three named by Blues manager Thomas Tuchel because of injuries, so their shot-stopper was always going to be called upon at some stage.

The 29-year-old made a magical save in the dying stages to deny Pontus Jansson, along with a couple more great blocks in the second half.

His reputation as one of the very best goalkeepers in the world continues to grow with every performance.
