Mykhailo Mudryk was picked out as a rare positive by the Chelsea fanbase in Saturday’s defeat at home to Brighton.

It’s been a really difficult season so far for the Blues, especially in the Premier League. The poor domestic form continued this afternoon by losing 2-1 against Brighton, too.

Chelsea did end a run of four matches without a goal through Conor Gallagher’s deflected strike. Incidentally, caretaker manager Frank Lampard did praise Gallagher in his post-match interview.

However, the Blues slumped to another loss after being outplayed by a travelling Brighton team.

If you were trying to pick positives from the weekend, Mykhailo Mudryk could be one rare shining light.

He completed 90 minutes for the first time since his mid-season arrival from Shakhtar Donetsk, which just shows what a challenging opening few months it’s been for him at Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old left-winger assisted the Gallagher goal after a positive run and clever reversed pass.

He had a few promising flashes with dribbles and his pace, too.

The general consensus within the Chelsea fanbase is that Mudryk has done enough to play his way into the starting line-up next week.

Chelsea’s season now rests solely on Tuesday night’s Champions League quarter-final tie against Real Madrid, where it’s going to take something special to overturn a two-goal deficit.

Mudryk did enjoy success against Spanish giants Real earlier in the competition when playing for Shakhtar Donetsk, so perhaps it’s now Chelsea’s turn to unleash him.

It doesn’t look like any of the Blues forward line is playing with much confidence right now. Maybe Mudryk can starting showing his potential at the right time, though.
