Chelsea loanee Nathan Baxter was in action last night for Hull City – and some fans of the Championship club were amazed by his individual display for them.
Hull recorded a third consecutive league win on Wednesday night with a 1-0 triumph away to Cardiff City. Keane Lewis-Potter scored a 14th minute header to seal three points for the visitors.
Remarkably, three of Hull’s five league victories this season have come in November.
23-year-old goalkeeper Baxter, who’s on a season-long loan from Chelsea, has been a major catalyst in his team’s turnaround in form. Baxter’s promotion to the starting line-up has coincided with Hull picking up three successive wins without conceding a goal.
He’s featured in a match day squad for Chelsea’s first team in the past, but his yet to make a senior debut for the Premier League leaders and reigning champions of Europe.
Hull fans wowed by Baxter impact
A selection of Hull supporters on social media were left waxing lyrical about the midweek performance from Chelsea-owned talent Baxter.
Aged 23, he’s still really young for a goalkeeper.
However, this is now his seventh loan spell away from Stamford Bridge in his bid to gain serious first-team experience.
He’s been moving up the English football ladder with time in the National League, League Two and League One in recent years, even moving to Scotland for a spell with Ross County at one stage.
The London-born shot-stopper has been given his first taste of football in the second tier this month, though, and is stepping up to the mark comfortably.
